Back in 2018, Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle Sr., had to undergo heart surgery, which ultimately prevented him from attending the wedding.
Harry shared that Kate later voiced her concerns, saying: “Charlotte’s dress is too big, too long, too baggy. She cried when she tried it on a[t] home.”
Meghan responded: “Right, and I told you the tailor has been standing by since 8am. Here. At KP. Can you take Charlotte to have it altered, as the other mums are doing?”
However, Kate reportedly pushed back, stating: “No, all the dresses need to be remade.”

Harry says that Meghan questioned whether Kate was aware of what was happening with her father at the time. Kate acknowledged that she was, but emphasized concerns about the dresses, reminding that the wedding was only four days away.
Meghan, frustrated, responded: “Yes, Kate, I know…”
Harry recalls Meghan telling Kate: “I’m not sure what else to say. If the dress doesn’t fit then please take Charlotte to see Ajay. He’s been waiting all day,” to which Kate simply replied: “Fine.”

After coming home to the aftermath of the dispute, Harry recalled finding Meghan in tears, “sobbing on the floor.”
The next day, Kate reportedly visited with a bouquet of flowers and a card as a gesture of apology for the misunderstanding.
At the time, the Royal Family opted not to respond to Harry’s claims in Spare.
