His Mother Forced Me Out While I Was Carrying His Children, Then Invited Me to His Wedding Five Years Later—But the Moment I Arrived With Three Little Boys Who Shared His Eyes, His Mother Dropped Her Champagne Glass and the Entire Celebration Fell Apart

Part 2 of 3

Crystal chandeliers sparkled beneath enormous silk canopies.

Luxury cars lined the entrance.

Everything looked flawless.

Evelyn Ashford stood near the staircase, greeting guests while wearing an expression of perfect confidence.

At the altar, Grant waited in an elegant black suit.

Time had changed him.

He still possessed the same charm Cecilia remembered, but there was now a sadness in his eyes that had not existed years before.

Then a black vehicle rolled slowly toward the entrance.

Confused whispers spread through the crowd.

That area had been reserved exclusively for the bride.

The driver opened the door.

Cecilia stepped out.

She wore a dark sapphire dress that reflected the afternoon light. Her hair was neatly arranged, and her calm expression revealed nothing.

She no longer resembled the heartbroken woman who had once departed in tears.

She looked like someone who had survived every storm life could offer.

Then she opened the rear door.

Micah stepped onto the stone path.

Rowan followed.

Elias came after him.

Three boys in matching navy-blue suits stood quietly beside their mother.

Silence settled over the entire garden.

A champagne glass slipped from Evelyn’s hand and shattered against the marble floor.

Grant slowly turned around.

For several long seconds, nobody moved.

Then someone whispered, “They have his eyes.”

When the Truth Finally Appeared

Evelyn descended the stairs immediately.

“Cecilia,” she said sharply, “what exactly are you doing here?”

Cecilia calmly placed her hand on Micah’s shoulder.

“I accepted your invitation.”

Evelyn forced a smile.

“I invited you to observe the ceremony respectfully, not to create a scene.”

Cecilia remained perfectly composed.

“Interesting. I wasn’t aware that children could frighten you so much.”

Grant approached slowly.

His gaze never left the boys.

Rowan looked up curiously.

“Mom, why does that man look so much like us?”

Grant froze.

His voice trembled.

“Cecilia … please explain this.”

She met his eyes.

“These are the answers you never had the courage to seek.”

He swallowed hard.

“Are they my children?”

“Yes,” she answered quietly.

Gasps spread across the garden.

Penelope stepped away from the altar.

“Grant, what is happening?”

He shook his head.

“I didn’t know. I swear I didn’t know.”

Evelyn quickly interrupted.

“This is absurd. There is no proof of anything.”

An elderly gentleman standing nearby stepped forward.

His name was Theodore Ashford, Grant’s uncle and a retired surgeon.

He studied the boys carefully before speaking.

“Evelyn, stop pretending. Every Ashford man for three generations has had the same mark behind the left ear. All three boys have it.”

Nobody spoke.

Penelope slowly removed her veil.

“You expect me to believe that you never learned you had children?”

Grant looked devastated.

“I truly didn’t know.”

Penelope’s disappointment was obvious.

“Perhaps not. But did you know your mother forced their mother to leave?”

Grant remained silent.

That silence answered everything.

“Then this wedding is over,” Penelope said.

The musicians stopped playing.

Conversations disappeared.

The perfect afternoon began to collapse.

The Price of Pride

Evelyn grasped Grant’s arm tightly.

“Stand where you belong,” she whispered angrily. “We can fix this.”

Grant gently pulled away.

“No.”

Evelyn stared at him in disbelief.

“What did you say?”

“I said no. I spent years allowing you to decide what mattered to me. I won’t do that anymore.”
