Surrounded by his family at his home in Plains, Georgia, Carter leaves behind a legacy as the longest-living president in U.S. history.

He is survived by his four children—Jack, Chip, Jeff, and Amy—along with 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalynn, and one grandchild.
