William’s plan for Harry, Meghan after BBC interview: ‘Renewed urgency’

“Absolutely vile”: Prince William’s reported plan for Harry and Meghan after explosive interview

Prince William is said to be preparing to remove Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) titles once he becomes King, according to sources close to the future monarch.

Insiders who spoke with US news outlet The Daily Beast described the relationship between the brothers as deeply strained. One friend of the Prince of Wales reportedly referred to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s recent actions as “absolutely vile”.

The source pointed specifically to Prince Harry’s latest high-profile interview with the BBC, which closely followed his legal loss regarding police protection in the UK. They suggested the interview confirmed Harry’s disinterest in repairing family ties.

“If he did, a period of silence would have been the right thing to do. The HRHs will go,” the insider said.

Although speculation about the removal of the couple’s HRH titles has circulated for some time, a source claimed the plan has now “gained renewed urgency” following Harry’s remarks, particularly those concerning King Charles’s health.

Speaking to the BBC, Harry had said: “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight any more … I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff.”

According to The Telegraph, these comments — especially in light of the King’s ongoing battle with cancer — were seen within royal circles as being in particularly “poor taste”.

While King Charles reportedly remains hesitant to escalate tensions with the Sussexes, Prince William is said to hold a firmer view, believing that the couple are “loose ends” who should be “completely cut off” from the royal institution.

A former royal aide told The Daily Beast: “He has no direct contact with Harry anymore, so it will be a clean break. And the chaos of a royal succession is always a good moment to make decisive changes. It will be among the first things he will do.”

Since stepping away from royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan have kept their HRH titles under the condition that they not be used for commercial purposes.
