Prince William’s sweet remark about Princess Charlotte at women’s Euros final ‘revealed’

Prince William shared a heartwarming moment involving his daughter, Princess Charlotte, during the Women’s Euro final on Sunday (July 27).

The 43-year-old Prince of Wales attended the match in Basel, Switzerland, alongside 10-year-old Charlotte, as they watched the Lionesses clinch the European Championship title for a second time.

William’s Touching Words About Charlotte During the Match

The father-daughter duo were present to see England’s Lionesses secure victory over Spain in a dramatic penalty shootout after the match ended 1-1 in regular time.

Alessia Russo scored England’s only goal, while goalkeeper Hannah Hampton saved two crucial penalties. Alex Greenwood, Niamh Charles, and Chloe Kelly all converted their spot-kicks to seal the win.

Following the final whistle, William and Charlotte made their way down to the pitch to celebrate with the team and help with the medal presentation.

When striker Michelle Agyemang came up to receive her medal, William reportedly offered her a heartfelt compliment.

Lip reader Jeremy Freeman, speaking to The Mirror, claimed that William said:
“Michelle, well done, honestly, you played a good tournament, you are so inspirational to Charlotte, well done.”

More Praise From Prince William

This wasn’t the first time the 19-year-old striker had spoken with the Prince that evening. Earlier in the night, Michelle had been honored as the Young Player of the Tournament.

While shaking her hand during that moment, William reportedly said:
“Michelle, what did I tell you? I did. What a player, fantastic, well done.”

Jeremy also noted that the Prince had some encouraging words for England’s manager, Sarina Wiegman, after the match.

According to Freeman, William said:
“We get to do it again, well done, hey, amazing. Penalties to take it, eh?”

Following the game, the official Instagram account for the Prince and Princess of Wales shared clips of the medal ceremony, showing a beaming Charlotte enjoying the celebrations from the sidelines.

The caption read:
“An incredible night for @lionesses and @england in Basel. Congratulations to Sarina, the team, and all the support staff. Champions!”

Prince William’s Emotion on Full Display

Meanwhile, body language expert Darren Stanton commented on William’s reactions during the game, suggesting he displayed genuine “raw emotion.”

Speaking on behalf of Genting Casino, Stanton shared:
“I truly think Prince William is a fantastic ambassador for sport, he’s clearly genuinely passionate about it.

“Both he and Kate are competitive by nature. And you can see how completely absorbed he becomes in the moment. There’s a brilliant shot of him with his hands to his face, eyes wide and mouth open, clearly caught up in the tension of the game. That raw emotion on his face shows just how invested he is.”

He added:
“The fact that he gets so emotionally involved in moments like this helps ignite a real sense of pride and national unity.”

Stanton concluded:
“I think that’s part of why people respond to him so strongly. He’s built trust, rapport, and a real connection with the public. And when the time comes, I believe that will make him a very popular king.”
