Prince Louis’ new birthday portrait has surprised royal fans making the same point

Happy Birthday to Prince Louis, who turns seven today.

To celebrate the occasion, the Prince and Princess of Wales released a sweet new portrait of their youngest son—and fans across the board seem to be saying the same thing.

Louis, the third child of Prince William and Princess Kate, is the younger brother to Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince George, eleven.

In the photo, Louis is pictured outdoors, perched atop what appears to be a tree stump in a woodland setting, smiling brightly for the camera. The portrait was taken by photographer Josh Shinner.

Royal watchers flooded social media with similar reactions, noting just how grown-up Louis looks in the image.

One fan wrote: “Prince Louis growing up. In long trousers (jeans even) and awaiting new front teeth. Terrific photo. Wishing Louis a fun family day, a delicious homemade cake and a great year.”

Another commented: “He’s suddenly all grown up. Happy birthday to Prince Louis!!”
And a third added: “Wow, so grown up all of a sudden! Happy Birthday Louis.”
“Wow! 7 y/o already!? Time flies,” said someone else. “Happy Birthday Prince Louis!! Hope you have wonderful birthday!”

Louis was born at 11:01 a.m. on April 23, 2018, at St Mary’s Hospital in London.

Earlier this year, some details from his birth certificate were highlighted—especially in comparison to those of his siblings. His full name is listed as His Royal Highness Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge, much like George and Charlotte, whose names appear as His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge and Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, respectively.

Since William inherited the title of Prince of Wales following Queen Elizabeth II’s passing in 2022, their titles could now also be styled with “of Wales” instead of “of Cambridge”.

Interestingly, all three birth certificates list their mother as Her Royal Highness Catherine Elizabeth, The Duchess of Cambridge, and their father as His Royal Highness Prince William Arthur Philip Louis, Duke of Cambridge.

However, there is one notable difference between the documents: George’s and Charlotte’s birth certificates were handwritten and signed, while Louis’ appears to have been typed and digitally signed by a different registrar.

As reported by Town & Country, this may simply reflect a change in preference by the registrar at the time, or possibly updated procedures within the office over the years.
