The Duchess of Sussex is set to return to screens next Tuesday (August 26) with the second season of her lifestyle series With Love, Meghan on Netflix. A newly released trailer teases celebrity guests joining Meghan in the kitchen – but it’s her wardrobe that has caught the eye of one image consultant.
California-based personal stylist Cynthia Kennedy suggests Meghan’s fashion choices reveal a deliberate shift: “She’s not dressing like a duchess anymore – she’s dressing like herself.”
From polished duchess to relaxed authenticity
In the first season, Meghan’s looks leaned heavily on luxury labels including Loro Piana, Max Mara and Brunello Cucinelli, with pieces often valued at over $1,000. The style was described as “Duchess-lite” – structured tailoring, muted neutrals, and carefully refined silhouettes.
By contrast, the season two trailer features Meghan in a striped frock, a floral dress, and a thick crimson jumper – “a far cry from the uniform tones and cuts of season one,” according to MailOnline.
Kennedy believes this is no accident: “Her choices feel deliberate and more like a conscious move toward comfort, relatability, and ease – without losing that aspirational polish.”
Approachable, modern and authentic
The stylist notes Meghan’s updated look “feels softer, relaxed, effortless and more lived-in,” with cozy knits, breezy dresses and casual silhouettes replacing formal tailoring.
“It signals she’s not trying to perform royalty anymore,” Kennedy explains. “Instead, she’s connecting with people as a modern woman, wife, and mother. Her style feels less like a public figure on a stage, and more like a woman at home letting you into her world.”
Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Meghan and Prince Harry have pursued new projects but remain estranged from the royal family. With Love, Meghan season two premieres on Netflix on August 26.
