Prince Harry Says He Doesn’t Know How Much Longer King Charles Has

Prince Harry, in a BBC interview following the loss of his security appeal, expressed uncertainty about his father’s health and suggested a bleak outlook for returning to the UK with his family.

“I would love reconciliation with my family… Life is precious,” he said during the broadcast. “I don’t know how much longer my father has. He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff. But it would be nice to reconcile.”

His comments underline how distant he has become from updates about King Charles’ condition. Since announcing his cancer diagnosis in February, Buckingham Palace has shared minimal information, only confirming that treatment is ongoing.

Earlier today, three Appeal Court judges dismissed Harry’s attempt to overturn a ruling on his UK security. Since stepping down as a senior royal, his security has been decided on a case-by-case basis — a policy he legally challenged in 2021, arguing he didn’t feel safe returning with his family without guaranteed police protection.

“I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” he told the BBC. “The thing that they’re going to miss is, well everything.” He added, “I love my country, I always have done… I miss the UK. I think that it’s really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland.”

Harry also reflected on the growing strain with relatives. “Of course some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book, of course they will never forgive me for lots of things,” he admitted.
