‘In Memory of Guy’: Prince Harry’s Wife Meghan Mourns the Death of Her Beloved Adopted Pet — Users Send Prayers

Part 1 of 2

The Duchess of Sussex shared an emotional video on Instagram, offering a glimpse into treasured moments she, her husband, and their two children had with their beloved late adopted pet.

On January 7, 2025, Meghan Markle announced the passing of her beagle, Guy. Fans who have felt the pain of losing cherished pets have shown an outpouring of love and support, sharing in her grief.

In the heartfelt clip, Meghan revealed touching moments of Guy bonding with the family, playing at the beach, relaxing in the kitchen, enjoying the garden, and lounging together.

In the caption, Meghan recounted how Guy entered her life. In 2015, she adopted him from County Animal Shelter in Kentucky, a kill shelter where he had only days left to live.

“I swooped him up… and fell in love,” she shared. “They called him ‘the little guy’ because he was so tiny and frail, so I named him ‘Guy.’ And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for.”

Meghan reflected on Guy’s constant presence throughout every chapter of her life, from her time on “Suits” to her engagement and wedding to Prince Harry, and even as she became a mother to Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3.

Guy, she noted, was always by her side, through “the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort,” she disclosed.

The 43-year-old narrated the health challenges Guy faced before her move to the UK. After a severe accident, he underwent multiple surgeries and spent months in a clinic. Doctors doubted he would walk again. However, with the care of Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick and his team, along with Meghan’s late-night visits to Surrey with Harry, Guy made an incredible recovery.

She expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Noel, Queen West Animal Hospital in Toronto, her current vets, and her supportive community for their unwavering care for Guy. “Thank you for loving him so,” she said.

Meghan revealed she went public with the news of Guy’s passing because he will appear in her upcoming Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan.” She added, “I hope you’ll come to understand why I am so devastated by his loss. I think you may fall a little bit in love too.”
